Severance Hospital is the main teaching hospital of Yonsei University College of Medicine and part of the Yonsei University Health System. It stands on the university's Sinchon campus at 50-1 Yonsei-ro in Seodaemun-gu, western Seoul. The hospital traces its history to Jejungwon, founded in April 1885 by the American missionary physician Dr. H. N. Allen. It was renamed Severance Hospital in 1904, when a donation from Mr. Severance funded a new building. Severance Medical School became part of Yonsei University in 1957, the present main building was dedicated in 2005, and the Yonsei Cancer Hospital opened on the campus in 2014.
The Department of Dermatology was established at Severance Union Medical College in 1917. Its outpatient clinic is on the 5th floor of the Main Building. The department runs a special clinic for Behçet's disease and treats psoriasis and vitiligo with ultraviolet phototherapy using a device it developed itself. It also offers chemical peels and laser treatment. Its skin cancer surgeons treat melanoma and other skin cancers, and the Skin Cancer Clinic has performed Mohs micrographic surgery since July 2000. Dermatologists from other countries visit the department to observe surgery and train. Patients with atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, alopecia areata, vitiligo and bullous diseases can receive biologic treatments, and the department takes part in multinational multicentre drug trials. Its English page states that it sees around 100,000 patients a year. Prof. Oh Sang Ho has chaired the department since March 2023.
International patients are served by the International Health Care Center, opened in 1962. It provides interpretation in English, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Arabic and Mongolian, cost estimates, direct billing to overseas insurers and patient-tailored meals. The hospital's English location page puts it a 15-minute walk from Exit 1 of Sinchon Station on Seoul Subway Line 2. Airport limousine bus 6011 from Incheon stops at Yonsei University, about five minutes away on foot.

Oh Sang Ho is a professor at Yonsei University College of Medicine and has been chair of its Department of Dermatology, head of dermatology at Severance Hospital and director of the Cutaneous Biology Research Institute since March 2023. A 1999 graduate of Yonsei University College of Medicine, Oh completed dermatology residency at Severance Hospital (2000–2004) and spent 2014–2016 in long-term training at the University of Pennsylvania. Clinical areas include vitiligo, photosensitivity disorders, pigmentary disorders such as melasma, cutaneous lymphoma and psoriasis.

The Skin Cancer Clinic has performed Mohs surgery since July 2000. Every excision margin is examined under the microscope, and the technique is used for basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma and dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans.
Tuesday-morning sessions are set aside for melanoma patients, and treatment of confirmed cases starts within a week of the visit. Dermatology removes the tumour and coordinates lymph-node surgery, medical oncology and radiation oncology with other departments.
Care for plaque psoriasis, generalized pustular psoriasis and palmoplantar pustulosis. Options include ultraviolet phototherapy with a device developed in the department, and biologic treatment.
