Memorial Şişli Hospital is the first hospital of Memorial Health Group, a Turkish private hospital group founded in 1995. Construction began in 1996 on Piyalepaşa Boulevard in Şişli, on the European side of Istanbul, and the hospital admitted its first patients in February 2000. Its Turkish page lists a 53,000 m² enclosed area, 267 beds, 12 operating theatres, four intensive-care units (cardiovascular surgery, general, coronary and neonatal) and four laboratories. Memorial's quality page states that the hospital was first accredited by Joint Commission International in 2002 and passed renewal surveys in 2005, 2008, 2011 and 2014.
The Aesthetic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery department treats aesthetic and reconstructive conditions of the face, breast and body. Its page describes rhinoplasty as surgery that can change the size of the nose, the tip, the dorsum and the nostrils, and can also address breathing problems, and states that the operation usually takes about two to four hours. Memorial's Turkish profile names Prof. Orhan Babucçu as head of the department, and plastic surgeon Dr. Melikgazi Öztürk also lists rhinoplasty.
In the hospital's Ear, Nose and Throat department, Prof. Mustafa Akarçay, Prof. Sami Katırcıoğlu and Prof. Ela Araz Server list rhinoplasty among their procedures. Akarçay and Katırcıoğlu also list septoplasty (nasal airway surgery), and Katırcıoğlu lists revision rhinoplasty. Other facial procedures on the department page include eyelid surgery, face and neck lifts, fat injection, buccal fat reduction and prominent-ear correction.
International patients are handled by Memorial Hospitals Group's international team. It offers a free medical second opinion on submitted records, visa invitation letters, contracted hotels near the hospitals and VIP airport transfers. The group runs a 24-hour welcome office at Istanbul Airport, and a native-language translator accompanies patients during treatment. After patients return home, the group's Medical Second Opinion team relays follow-up questions to the doctor.
