Medicana International Istanbul – IVF Centre

Medicana International Istanbul is a private general hospital in Beylikdüzü, on the European side of Istanbul near the Sea of Marmara coast. It belongs to Medicana Health Group. Medicana states that the hospital has served patients since 2007. The complex covers 30,000 m² in two linked blocks, one for inpatient floors and one for outpatient clinics. It has medical-surgical, cardiovascular-surgery, coronary and neonatal intensive care units, 186 standard patient rooms and four suites.

The IVF centre (Tüp Bebek Merkezi) is on the hospital's third floor. It has operated since 2008, when Prof. Dr. Selman Laçin set it up after joining Medicana. The centre's own website describes a team of about 20 people: doctors, biologists, a psychologist, a genetics specialist, nurses, a coordinator and support staff. The treatments it describes are intrauterine insemination, classic IVF and microinjection (ICSI). Embryos are cultured to the blastocyst stage (day 5) so that one, or at most two, can be selected for transfer. The centre states that its laboratory has a ventilation system separate from the main building, fitted with HEPA, CODA and activated-carbon filters, and that frozen embryos are kept in liquid-nitrogen tanks whose levels are checked twice a week. A urologist on the team handles male infertility, including microsurgical sperm retrieval.

International patients are looked after by the hospital's International Patient Center. Medicana states that full-time interpreters for English, Russian, Arabic, Kurdish and Somali work at the hospital around the clock, and that each international patient's treatment is coordinated individually. The hospital is on Beylikdüzü Caddesi, close to the Cumhuriyet Mahallesi stop of Metrobus lines 34C and 34BZ.
