Memorial Şişli Hospital is a multi-specialty private hospital of the Memorial Healthcare Group on Piyalepaşa Boulevard in the Okmeydanı area of Şişli, on the European side of Istanbul. It received its first patient in February 2000. Memorial lists a 53,000 m² enclosed area, 252 beds, 13 operating rooms, four intensive care units and three laboratories at the site, which holds Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation.
The hospital's In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Andrology and Genetics Center (Tüp Bebek ve Üreme Genetiği Merkezi) has provided fertility services since 2000 and is headed by Prof. Dr. Semra Kahraman. The centre's website describes a team of about 85 people, including gynaecologists, urologist-andrologists, embryologists and andrology biologists, geneticists, nurses and international patient staff. Its embryology and andrology laboratories work alongside an on-site genetics laboratory, and an EmbryoScope time-lapse embryo monitoring system has been in use in the IVF laboratory since 2011. Services include IVF and ICSI, intrauterine insemination, freezing of embryos, eggs, sperm and ovarian tissue, surgical sperm retrieval, preimplantation genetic testing and endoscopic gynaecological surgery. In line with Turkish regulations, treatment is carried out using the couple's own eggs and sperm.
Patients travelling from abroad are supported by the Memorial International Patient Center, which offers second-opinion reviews, interpreting services, appointment scheduling, help with admission, discharge and follow-up, airport transfers, Memorial Guest House stays and travel and accommodation arrangements. Memorial also runs a patient office in the arrivals hall of Istanbul Airport (IST), about 39 km by road from the hospital.

Prof. Dr. Semra Kahraman heads the IVF and Reproductive Genetics Center at Memorial Şişli Hospital, and her Memorial profile lists her as Director of the Assisted Reproductive Technologies and Reproductive Genetics Unit since 2000. Before joining Memorial she was Director of Assisted Reproductive Technologies at Sevgi Hospital in Ankara (1993–2000), and her profile lists 1996–1997 periods at the Van Helmont Hospital in Vilvoorde (Belgium), the Weill Cornell Center for Reproductive Medicine in New York and the Reproductive Genetics Institute in Chicago. She qualified in medicine at Hacettepe University, specialised in obstetrics and gynaecology at Ankara University and became a professor at Yeditepe University Medical School in 2004.

Eggs collected from the ovaries after hormonal stimulation are fertilised with sperm in the laboratory, and a resulting embryo is transferred to the uterus.
